Deepika Padukone recently made headlines when she met #MeToo accused filmmaker Luv Ranjan at his office. Her fans were highly disappointed and trended #NotMyDeeepika on Twitter so as to stop the actress from working with the director. Reports suggested that Deepika was finalised for Luv Ranjan’s film featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Ajay Devgn. And this piece of news made her fans upset. Till date, there’s no clarification from DP regarding this film. The Padmaavat star has neither accepted nor denied doing the Luv Ranjan film. Amidst all of this, the actress, at an event yesterday, spoke at length when asked about the #MeToo movement. Deepika was quite upfront and expressed her views on the movement that created a wave in India last year.

She said, “You should ask some cricketers about the #MeToo movement. I don’t see that happening. But every actor is asked about the #MeToo movement. It’s not something that’s happening only in the film industry.” The actress remained adamant on her point and added, “So, sure, I don’t think I’m in any kind of place to say if I would expose myself to a forum. You can ask me whatever question you want, but why subject it only to a film star? As responsible people, should we not have an opinion? All our opinions should matter then, right?”

On the professional front, Deepika will be seen as an acid attack survivor in Meghna Gulzar’s Chhapaak. It is based on the life of Laxmi Agarwal. For the first time ever, the actress will be seen romancing Vikrant Massey, of Mirzapur fame, on the big screen. Apart from Chhapaak, we will see Deepika in Kabir Khan’s ’83. In the film, based on Indian Cricket Team’s 1983 World Cup Win, DP plays Ranveer Singh’s (Kapil Dev) wife, Romi Dev. ’83 is going to be a big treat for #DeepVeer fans.
