Deepika Padukone radiates Victoria-era vibes with her outfit as she attends Gala dinner hosted by Louis Vuitton in Venice

The Venice Biennale is an international biannual art exhibition that takes place in Venice, Italy every  year. Participation in the Biennale, dubbed “the Olympics of the art world,” is a significant event for modern artists. The festival has evolved into a kaleidoscope of events, including a major exhibition selected by the artistic director for that year, national pavilions sponsored by specific countries, and independent exhibitions across Venice. The Biennale’s parent organisation also sponsors regular events in the following disciplines: architecture, dance, cinema, music, and theatre.

The Espace Louis Vuitton Venezia is a cultural and exhibition space that builds a bridge between contemporary art and the historic and artistic heritage of Venice. Since opening in 2013, it has organised six exhibitions in partnership with the Venice Civic Museums Foundation (MUVE) that have explored juxtapositions of past and present with contributions from international artists such as Bill Viola and Tony Oursler. In 2016, as part of the Hors les murs cultural programme, the Espace Louis Vuitton Venezia mounted Fondation Louis Vuitton Building in Paris by Frank Gehry con L’intervento Di Daniel Buren, an immersive exhibition that revealed the creative and technical processes behind the construction of the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris. Subsequently, several exhibitions have been included in the Collateral Events of both the Art and Architecture Exhibitions of the Venice Biennale

This year marks the 59th edition of the International Art Exhibition, curator this time by Cecilia Alemani, who has entitled the Biennale Arte 2022 as The Milk of Dreams. April 23, will be the opening day of the six-month long Biennale inside Venice’s Teatro La Fenice. Timed to the 59th Art Exhibition in Venice –La Biennale di Venezia, Louis Vuitton proposes several initiatives that celebrate and support the contemporary art and exceptional heritage of Venice.

Louis Vuitton held a dinner in Venice last night on April 21st 2022, to celebrate the future renovation of the Galleria Giorgio Franchetti alla Ca’ d’Oro in Venice.Hosted by Daniele Ferrara, of Veneto’s Regional Directorate for Museums, the gala was timed to the 59th Art Exhibition in Venice – the Venice Biennale.

Deepika Padukone was in attendance at the celebration, dressed in Louis Vuitton’s Spring Summer 2022 collection, and sporting the iconic Dauphine handbag with the Maisons’s jacquard ‘Since 1854’ textile. Guests in attendance at the celebration and dinner included Isabelle Huppert, Tahar Rahim, Valeria Golino, Nicoletta Romanoff, Giorgia Tordini, Candela Pelizza and Paolo Stella among others.

In 2020, the Deepika turned face for Louis Vuitton’s pre-fall campaign alongside Sophie Turner, Léa Seydoux, Alicia Vikander and Chloë Grace Moretz, and this year, we witness the actress make a classic appearance at the 59th Venice Biennale for a dinner hosted by the French luxury house to celebrate the future renovation of the Galleria Giorgio Franchetti alla Ca’ d’Oro.

In a ruffled collar top and khaki bermuda shorts, Deepika radiated Victorian-era vibes. Her outfit was completed with a cropped black velvet jacket. Her right off the runway appearance for was further enhanced with mesh and lace gloves and knee-high trendy boots. Her ensemble was finished by a gorgeous chain bag from LV’s shelves. Deepika chose her characteristic matte glam look, which included earthy brown lips and a perfectly sculpted face. To finish her appearance, she wore her long flowing locks in a traditional bun.

This year, the Fondation Louis Vuitton has been included in the Official Collateral Events of the LaBiennale di Venezia, a programme curated byCecilia Alemani. The Espace Louis Vuitton willshowcase Apollo, Apollo, a dimensional work created by Katharine Grosse for the exhibition area.Made of metal mesh and printed in a vivid spectrum of colour featuring the artist’s hands, the large-scale installation symbolises the boundaries between the artist’s body and the colourful material that disappear during the creative process. Apollo, Apollo’s draped form and saturated hues evoke Venetian artisanal hallmarks such as Fortuny fabrics and Terrazzo mosaics, while the material fluidity conjures the city’s canals and reflecting light. Within an austere darkened space, Apollo, Apollo creates a gateway to a dreamlike world in which visitors question their own perceptions of reality and illusion.

Louis Vuitton’s passion for creation and contemporary art is matched by the desire to preserve architectural heritage. As a supporter of the Venetian Heritage Foundation, an international non-profit organisation, Louis Vuitton will contribute to the renovation and restoration of the Museum of the Ca’ D’Oro – a historic late Gothic palazzo – with a donation.

Finally, for the first week of the Exhibition, Vuitton will infuse the streets with colour and culture by refurbishing eight traditional Venetian newspaper kiosks, creating pop-up bookstands that will display and sell the entire Travel Editions Collections (City Guides, Fashion Eye, Travel and Books)
