House of the Dragon writer teases the gruesome Blood and Cheese plot for season 2 – “I don’t think you’ll be disappointed”

House of the Dragon writer Sara Hess has teased the plot of season 2 to have a ‘Blood and Cheese’ plot, thus having a brutal and graphic revenge story. House of the Dragon premiered in August on HBO and recently wrapped up its season 1. Just days after the show premiered, it was renewed for season 2 which is expected to come out in 2024. While the season is still in early development, the franchise writer has teased ta Blood and Cheese plotline for the upcoming season.

As Variety notes, per George R. R. Martin’s Fire & Blood novel, Blood and Cheese are the nicknames given to two characters responsible for avenging Queen Alicent, Prince Aemond, King Aegon II and the Greens on behalf of Prince Daemon, Queen Rhaenyra and the Blacks, following Rhaenyra’s son Lucerys’ death at the hands of Aemond.

“We are currently writing the finale of Season 2,” Hess explained to Variety. When asked if Season 2 will feature Blood and Cheese, she teased, “I don’t think you will be disappointed.” The foundation for House of the Dragon‘s Blood and Cheese plot was already laid in season 1.

As the upcoming season will feature a vengeance story, fans can expect gritty and brutal factors in the Blood and Cheese episode. As the outlet suggests, making sure that fans aren’t “disappointed” could likely mean that House of the Dragon showrunner Ryan Condal, writer Hess and their team have written the most gruesome and graphic scene of the series for what would likely be one of the first episodes of Season 2.
