Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut is back on the micro-blogging site, Twitter, almost after two years. For the unversed, her account was suspended in May 2021 for “repeated violations” of its hateful conduct and abusive behaviour policies. The actress often makes headlines for sharing her unfiltered opinion. Once again, Kangana has grabbed everyone’s attention with her take on the film industry and obsession with box office figures. Kangana’s comment comes on the release day of Shah Rukh Khan’s much-anticipated film Pathaan which is expected to have a record-breaking opening.
On Wednesday morning, the Queen actress shared a couple of tweets in a thread. “Film industry is so crass and crude that whenever they want to project success of any endeavour/creation/art they throw flashing currency digits in your face, as if art has no other purpose…it exposes their lowly standards and the kind of deprived lives they live,” read her first tweet.
The Tanu Weds Manu actress further explained that cinema is not made for “major economic gains” like other industries and that’s the reason artists are worshipped. She concluded by a brief write-up and wrote, “So even if artists indulge in polluting the very fibre of art and culture in the nation they must do it discreetly not shamelessly.”
Talking about Pathaan, the Siddharth Anand directorial grabbed the spot in the top 5 Hindi and Hindi dub films to make record sales on Day 1. Besides Shah Rukh, the spy-thriller also features Deepika Padukone and John Abraham. Meanwhile, Ashutosh Rana and Dimple Kapadia are also playing important characters.
Coming back to Ranaut, she is currently busy with her next film, Emergency. In the forthcoming film, she will be seen portraying the late politician Indira Gandhi. Apart from headlining the project, she has also donned the hat of the director. It is slated to release on October 20, 2023.
