Katrina Kaif is all hearts as Vicky Kaushal’s Sardar Udham wins big at the IIFA technical awards

Vicky Kaushal’s film Sardar Udham won the top prize at the International Indian Film Academy’s (IIFA) Technical Awards on Tuesday, and his wife and actor Katrina Kaif showered him with love on Instagram. Katrina, who married Vicky in December 2021, shared a post about the film’s accolades on her Instagram Story with two heart emoticons.

Vicky used a flying kisses sticker in response to Katrina’s Instagram Story. The winners of the 22nd edition of the IIFA Technical Awards were announced on Tuesday. At the IIFA 2022 film festival, Sardar Udham received three awards, including best cinematography, editing, and special effects.

Shoojit Sircar’s Sardar Udham, starring Vicky Kaushal, delivered a breath of fresh air for cinephiles. The film is based on the lesser-known story of freedom fighter Sardar Udham Singh, who shot dead Michael O’Dwyer, the former Lieutenant Governor of Punjab in British India, in order to avenge the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre, in 1940.

Vicky Kaushal stated at the film’s trailer launch last September that there was so little available material about Udham Singh that he had no choice but to rely fully on director Shoojit Sircar to build the character.

“To perform this role effectively, I had to entirely give to Shoojit’s vision. The more I listened to him, the clearer it became to me how he understands that era, how he studies the freedom fight, Sardar Udham Singh, and Shaheed Bhagat Singh… “I’ve never met somebody like him,” Vicky had said.

Sardar Udham directed by Shoojit Sircar and produced by Sheel Kumar, also stars Banita Sandhu and Amol Parashar.
