M3GAN 2.0: M3GAN sequel set for 2025 with returning stars Allison Williams and Violet McGraw

Universal has set January 17, 2025 release window for sequel of the horror-thriller film M3GAN with the original stars Allison Williams and Violet McGraw set to return with writer Akela Cooper.

According to Variety, the sequel to Atomic Monster and Blumhouse’s campy thriller is officially in the works. Cooper is returning to pen the sequel whose plot details haven’t been revealed. Jason Blum and James Wan are also returning to produce M3GAN 2.0 for Universal.

“After I first saw the movie, we had a good sense that a sequel might really work,” Blum told the outlet. “So, we broke our cardinal rule and we started talking about a sequel before the movie was released. I felt so bullish that we started entertaining a sequel earlier than we usually do.”

Michael Clear and Judson Scott, of Wan’s Atomic Monster banner, will executive produce the film. Blumhouse’s Ryan Turek will executive produce along with Mark Katchur. Adam Hendricks and Greg Gilreath, from Divide/Conquer, will also serve as executive producers.

M3GAN, short for Model 3 Generative Android, was released January 6, 2023 and has grossed more than $90 million at the worldwide box office to-date. The film follows the eponymous artificially intelligent doll who develops self-awareness and becomes hostile towards anyone who comes between her and her human companion.

Directed by Gerard Johnstone, the spooky AI thriller stars Allison Williams, Violet McGraw, Ronny Chieng, Brian Jordan Alvarez, Jen Van Epps, Lori Dungey and Stephane Garneau – Monten.
