Rahul Rawail reacts to Deepak Tijori’s claims on Shah Rukh Khan’s Anjaam; says, “It’s so STUPID and CHILDISH of him”

The Shah Rukh Khan-Madhuri Dixit starrer film Anjaam recently completes 28 years, on April 22. It also starred Deepak Tijori and during a recent interaction with NEXSTAR MEDIA, the veteran actor revealed that it’s the only film that he regrets doing. When asked why he replied that he was not happy with the way it was made. He said, “The director (Rahul Rawail) started writing a script completely in favour of Madhuri Dixit. He gave a raw deal to my and Shah Rukh Khan’s character. Shah Rukh and I used to wonder, ‘Yeh director kya kar raha hai’.”

Deepak Tijori further revealed that “Rahul Rawail stopped me in a scene where Shah Rukh Khan beats me in my own house and I hit back. The fight master Tinnu Verma had also approved the shot. Imagine, mere ghar mein meri biwi ko chhed raha hai woh aadmi. Toh ek do baar toh maarunga na? So I tried to attack him. However, the director shouted ‘Cut’. I tried to reason with him. He replied, ‘This is not in your film. Who’s the director?’” Deepak further said, “The director told me ‘Tu usko maarega hi nahi’. I was like, ‘Aap banao jaisi film aapko banani hai’.”

As expected, this explosive and exclusive NEXSTAR MEDIA story spread like wildfire. However, Rahul Rawail himself was oblivious to these sensational claims made by Deepak Tijori. When we called him for his reaction, he asked us about what Deepak Tijori has said about him and Anjaam. When we gave him the whole picture, Rahul Rawail replied, “If these are his comments, then it’s pointless to react to him. It’s so stupid and childish of him.”

Did Deepak Tijori ever make his displeasure clear about his experience of working on Anjaam? “No,” was the brief answer given by the Love Story (1981) and Betaab (1983) director

When asked whether he indeed change the script and gave more footage to Madhuri Dixit at the last minute as claimed by Deepak Tijori, Rahul Rawail replied, “Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Deepak Tijori can say whatever he likes. I don’t want to comment on anything. It’s too old an issue…something that happened 28 years back. He is remembering all this now. Anyway, that’s his prerogative.”
