Ram Gopal Varma enters Ajay Devgn and Kichcha Sudeepa’s language debate; says, “North stars are insecure and jealous of South stars”

On Wednesday, Ajay Devgn took to his Twitter handle to respond to actor Kichcha Sudeepa’s “Hindi is no longer the national language of India” comment. What ensued was a heated exchange between the two about the Hindi language. While the two ended the debate on a friendly note, with Ajay concluding that it was a misunderstanding, the Indian Twitterati has been divided and have been expressing their opinions on the topic. Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma, too, took to his Twitter handle to share his point of view on the debate.

Ram Gopal Varma who is known to honestly express his opinions on Twitter shared his opinion on the language debate. Tagging Kichcha in his tweet, RGV wrote, “The base undeniable ground truth @KicchaSudeep sir ,is that the north stars are insecure and jealous of the south stars because a Kannada dubbing film #KGF2 had a 50 crore opening day and we all are going to see the coming opening days of Hindi films.”

“Like the PROOF of the PUDDING is in the eating, the runway 34 collections will prove how much GOLD (kgf2) is there in HINDI versus KANNADA .. @ajaydevgn versus @KicchaSudeep,” he added.

Ajay took offense to Kichcha’s statement on Twitter and wrote to him in Hindi, “My brother, if according to you Hindi is not our national language then why do you release your movies in your mother tongue by dubbing them in Hindi? Hindi was, is and always will be our mother tongue and national language. Jan Gan Man.”

Responding to the tweet, Kichcha said that his comment on Hindi language and pan India films was taken out of context.  “And sir, I did understand the text you sent in Hindi. That’s only because we all have respected, loved and learnt Hindi. No offense sir, but was wondering what’d the situation be if my response was typed in Kannada!! Don’t we too belong to India, sir,” he wrote.

Eventually, both buried the hatchet. Ajay tweeted, ‘Thanks for clearing up the misunderstanding. I’ve always thought of the film industry as one. We respect all languages and we expect everyone to respect our language as well. Perhaps, something was lost in translation.”
