Ram Teri Ganga Maili star Mandakini to make a comeback after over 20 years; reveals why she was not taking up work offers

Actress Mandakini, who is best known for her role of Ganga Singh in the 1985 film Ram Teri Ganga Maili, is all set to make her comeback. The actress quit showbiz in 1996. She will soon feature in a music video titled ‘Maa O Maa’ and what makes it even more special is that her son Rabbil Thakur will also feature in the video. The song directed by Sajan Aggarwal will commence shooting later this month.

Mandakini’s comeback was announced at an event in Mumbai recently. At the event, the actress also spoke to the media about her comeback. “The song is very good. I had to say yes. There was no reason to say no. It’s a very beautiful and sweet song,” she said, complimenting the upcoming song.

Mandakini has stayed away from showbiz for over 20 years. When asked why she chose to comeback with ‘Maa O Maa’, she said, “I was getting offers but I did not like anything, so I didn’t say yes. There is no special reason to say yes to this project. I have known him for years, we are like family.”

Mandakini has played the role of a mother quite often and in her comeback project, we will once again see her as a mother. When asked about her equation of playing a mother on screen, she said, “I think this is the best feeling, the feeling of motherhood. The relationship that a mother shares with her child is pure and the best relationship.”

Meanwhile, Rabbil who will be debuting alongside his mother shared, “In my childhood, I did not watch any of my mother’s films. I used to not understand the concept that this is just a movie and she is just acting. I used to not like seeing the way villains treated my mom and things like that. So in my childhood, I didn’t like watching my mother’s films. Recently, I started watching her films.”

Interrupting him, Mandakini added, “Today’s movies are much more advanced. So today’s generation would not like the movies made 20 years ago. Frankly speaking, they are outdated. There are very few films that you can rewatch. Normally, even when we watch those films we find it weird because there are changes to the way films are made today.”

Mandakini who was last seen in the film Zordaar also has films like Dance Dance, Ladaai, Kahan Hai Kanoon, Naag Naagin, Pyar Ke Naam Qurbaan and Pyaar Karke Dekho to her credit.
