Ranveer Singh on hosting 67th Filmfare Awards 2022: ‘It’s an honour to be a part of the celebration of excellence in Hindi cinema in this grand manner’

When it’s Ranveer Singh on stage, expect nothing less than fireworks. So, imagine how extravagant and entertaining it is going to get when the Bollywood actor takes on the Filmfare stage in its 67th edition as the host. The actor is excited to wear this hat and cannot wait to make the August 30 evening at the Jio World Convention Centre, Mumbai, a memorable experience for the live audience. During the launch, Ranveer not only expressed his excitement to host the event but also went down memory lane to share his fondest memories of the Filmfare Awards.

The actor got emotional talking about his special rendezvous with Filmfare all these years. He remembers performing a few times and even winning a few times, and says that “some of the most cherished memories” of his life have been the “nights of Filmfare”. Ranveer still falls short of words to explain his favourite Filmfare moments. He said, “When I won for Gully Boy, I received the trophy from Madhuri Dixit [Nene], which was again a life-changing moment for me. Then, to have Deepika’s parents in the audience when she won Best Actor (Female) for Piku, was yet another heartfelt moment for me. That was a special night as I paid my tribute to Mr. Aditya Chopra, my mentor, and on the same evening I also won an award for Bajirao and my family was also there.”

Ranveer continues, “I remember in one of the editions, Ganesh Hedge choreographed our performance for Ram Leela on stage and it was hilarious. I still get feedback for that performance. We had a blast in the year when Filmfare was held in Assam. The crowd there was electrifying.”

Ranveer also shared how his personal favourite Filmfare Award night is the one Shah Rukh Khan and Saif Ali Khan hosted the eventful night. This year, his “partner-in-crime” and “dearest baba”, Arjun Kapoor, will be hosting the 67th Filmfare Awards 2022 together with him and they are ready to roll. “There is some magic around the Filmfare Awards, which is inexplicable, which is why I am ever so excited to be hosting this time. It’s an honour to be a part of the celebration of excellence in Hindi cinema in this grand manner. As a child, I would read Filmfare magazine from cover to cover, especially the award and anniversary/special editions, several times. I used to also take cut-outs from the magazines and save them,” Ranveer added.

Ranveer Singh promised more such anecdotes at the much-awaited event, which will be held on August 30 at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai!
