This is why Karan Johar has decided to tighten the budget of ‘Takht’

The year that went by hasn’t been a good one for Karan Johar. Of his multiple releases last year, the only one that clicked at the box office was ‘Good Newwz’, which starred Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani.

The prudent producer that he is, the situation has made KJo do some serious re-thinking as far as the budget of his upcoming movies are concerned. According to an entertainment website, he is extremely cautious about his projects in 2020. The portal quoted a source as saying that Karan has tightened his pursestrings.

Seems, he has not only scrapped commercially uncertain projects, but has also cut down the budget of his ambitious project, ‘Takht’. Buzz is also that no Dharma Production venture will be shot abroad this year. ‘Takht’, a period drama, also directed by Karan, has an impressive line-up of stars, including Ranveer Singh, Vicky Kaushal, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Bhumi Pednekar, Janhvi Kapoor and Anil Kapoor.

That’s not all. Director Ayan Mukerji’s ‘Bramhastra’, which is said to be the most expensive film ever produced by KJo, will also have to check its budget. Seems, the film, Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, has taken longer than any other Dharma project to complete.
