He started his Bollywood journey with Karan Johar’s Student Of The Year franchise and so did she. Sidharth Malhotra and Tara Sutaria are neighbours first and then co-stars. During her very first appearance on Koffee With Karan 6, Tara had confessed that she had a crush on Sidharth. Her statement sparked the rumours of their relationship, which was followed by a constant denial from their end. Tara and Sidharth maintain that ‘they are just good friends’ till date, however, their off-screen camaraderie has a different tale to tell. Cut to the promotions of their first movie, Marjaavaan, we met the duo for an exclusive interaction. When we asked the two, if their off-screen chemistry helped them to do their scenes with ease for Marjaavaan, here’s what Tara and Sidharth had to say.
“Sid (Sidharth) and I did not know each other before Marjaavaan. We got to know each other because of Marjaavaan, through the process. And of course, as you said, we’re the ex-students from St.Teresa’s and we’re really not from the industry. So, we do have that in common. I think it is easier because we connect on those levels and we can have conversations and chat about those things. So, there’s definitely that comfort,” said Tara Sutaria.
Adding to this, Sidharth continued, “We met socially for the first time before the film (Marjaavaan). We started talking about movies, work and I had heard all the good things about her — whether it’s her other talents that she has. She is a fabulous singer and performer on the stage. So, I was intrigued and was like ‘great that apart from acting you can do so many other things.’ Unfortunately, we cast her in a film where she has no dialogues and she is not singing.” On this note, we suggested Tara to come up with a cover version of Tum Hi Aana. To which, Tara agreed while Sidharth said, “You should do it, absolutely.”
