Just three days after the release of An Action Hero, producer Aanand L Rai of Colour Yellow Productions and leading man of the film, Ayushmann Khurrana have penned a heart-felt note on their combined labour of love and making the film industry a more diverse story-telling creative space.
The note shared by the producer and actor starts with them listing down the creative team behind the film for this has been their first feature film, including debutant director Anirudh Iyer, screenwriter Neeraj Yadav and music composer Parag Chhabra. The post read, “During the entire journey of An Action Hero it really felt like we were the newest students of cinema and were all set to make something really exciting and new age.”
Rai and Khurrana then went on to reflect on the amazing journey the team had while making the film, being it a new genre for the duo, and driven by the same passion for telling fresh and unique stories in line with their brand of new age cinema. The note further continued, “As a team, we are always aligned and inclined to try and cause creative disruption. From Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan and now An Action Hero, we have tried to give audiences something new to savour and discuss through our brand of cinema. So, we are humbled with all the positivity and the strong word of mouth surrounding An Action Hero. We hope this snowballs into more and more people coming to the theatres. We have always wanted to tell stories differently and back projects that are fresh, that are unique & clutter-breaking.”
The note ends with the team thanking audiences for the outpouring of love and hoping that the film will be seen more widely and remembered as a novel experiment in mainstream Hindi cinema. “We are grateful for the love that’s coming our way for An Action Hero. It validates our stance of walking the road less travelled, to take risks and hopefully contribute to making our industry a more diverse storytelling entity. For us, An Action Hero is a rare script, a film that was meant to push the envelope of creativity and we hope you continue giving it love and appreciation in the days to come. An Action Hero hit the theatres on December 2.
