All hail SS Rajamouli’s RRR as it made history at the 2023 Golden Globes in Los Angeles on January 10. For the uninitiated, the RRR song, ‘Naatu Naatu’ and the film itself were nominated in Best Original Song and Best Foreign Film categories, respectively. Kala Bhairava, M. M. Keeravani and Rahul Sipligunj won the Best Original Song award at the coveted ceremony in LA.

Golden Globes 2023 was attended by SS Rajamouli along with actors Ram Charan and Jr NTR. Their families were also in attendance. Ram Charan shared a picture from the red carpet on Instagram and wrote, “THE #RRR FAMILY ! On the way to the GOLDEN GLOBES @goldenglobes.” Ram also shared photo with the music composer, Jr. NTR and Rajamouli after their winning moment.

Keeravani accepted the award from Jenna Ortega, the star of Netflix’s hit series, Wednesday. “I’m very much overwhelmed with this great moment,” he began his speech. “This award actually belongs to someone else. I was planning not to say those words when I get an award like this, but I’m afraid I’m going to repeat the tradition because I mean my words.” He thanked SS Rajamouli, as well as the song’s lyricist, animator and programmer.

The film was nominated in the Best Picture – Non-English Language category. It was competing against All Quiet on the Western Front, Argentina, 1985, Close and Decision to Leave. The second nomination was for the RRR song ‘Naatu Naatu‘ in the Best Original Song – Motion Picture category. The song will compete against ‘Carolina’ from Where the Crawdads Sing, ‘Ciao Papa’ from Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio‘Hold My Hand’ from Top Gun: Maverick and ‘Lift Me Up’ from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
