Ram Gopal Varma says testing positive for Coronavirus was April Fool’s Day joke, faces the wrath of netizens

Bollywood director Ram Gopal Varma has apologized for his distasteful tweet about testing positive for Coronavirus. The filmmaker took to Twitter to say that it was an April Fool’s Day prank.

“Anyway I am just trying to make light of a grim situation but the joke is on me and if I [did] offend anyone I sincerely apologise to them.” tweeted Ram Gopal Varma tweeted after facing backlash over the tweet.

The Rangeela director, on April 1st, tweeted that he was diagnosed with Covid-19. “My doctor just told me that I tested positive with Corona … Sorry to disappoint, but now he tells me it’s an April Fool joke Flushed face it’s his fault and not mine,” tweeted Varma.

Netizens began criticizing his flippant action over such a sensitive issue. The filmmaker who is in self-quarantine in Hyderabad, reportedly said that he was bored and that is why he tweeted it.
